For those of you who don't know what an IUD is, it is an intra uterine device, or a T-shaped device the doctor inserts into the uterus for birth control. There are two types: the five year (Mirena), and the ten year (Paragard T). IUDs had gotten a bad rap in the 70's, because the copper ones were believed to cause TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome), uterine cancer, and other types of feminine ills. But these newer ones are made of copper and plastic, and are safer. In my opinion, it's a great alternative to having your tubes tied, or "clipped and burned" (ugh!) because if I ever decide to have children again, all I have to do is have the device removed. I know many of you think I'm CRAZY for even thinking about having another baby! I'm not thinking about it right now, but it's nice to have that option in case I decide to!
I have a few links in my Favorite Sites box about IUDs if you want more information. Bye, y'all!

I use to have one-but I had a back ache with it for a year! So I had it removed. But it definitely is a lot different than it used to be.
Thank you for visiting my journal. This is a very interesting entry especially since I'm getting married and will need to know these things eventually. Thank you for providing the links!
I notice on your sidebar you love to read! Great! That's one of my favorite things to do:)
Best wishes and have a wonderful day,

PS I am so sorry about Katrina. My heart and soul goes out to all the victims. Peace be with you and your family ~ Hugs.
Thank you for explaining that. I had no idea. LOL
My fiance and I both are sterile. His came from having the mumps and mine came from cancer treatments that made me go into early menopause.
I don't think you're crazy at all for leaving the option of more children open. I would loved to have had another so my son wouldn't be so alone all the time.
hugs

I'm probably one of the few people who actually knew what it was. For some reason I know a lot of strange info no one else seems to know or would want to know. lol. IUD's are a better contraceptive, you don't have to remember to take a pill, put on a patch, worry with getting a shot, or have surgery, eww. Thanks for the links though!

Hey how are you. You were the first to read my journal, so I had to share the love. Thanks! I was excited to start my journal, you know as stress reliever mainly, then today I started to think it was T.M.I. for the world to know. Now though, I am ok with...i can make the limits. Well thanks for opening your world, I will be reading more often! ...and IUD's...I really thought those things were like an urban myth, i didnt know ppl still used them.
Hello,
I've been lurking around your Journal and following your story for a while now. I thought I'd finally say "Hi" today. God Bless You and your family. You will be in my prayers.

hi...I needed to forward you an email, but I keep getting an error message..is there any other way I can email you, for instance do you have another email ad?
Ann
thanks for your response..it's not urgent, so please take your time..thanks again!
Its good to have that choice. You never know, you might want to have a child again. And the surgery seems so drastic unless you're extremely furtile.
