Today, I took Nelly (my 21 year-old car) for his inspection. I thought sure that he wasn't going to pass. Turns out that he did INDEED pass inspection! There was some minor damage done to the car that needed to be repaired, but when it was all over, all I had to pay out-of-pocket was $184!!!
This means that I don't have to rush when buying another car this year. If I would have had to dispose of Nelly now, because he didn't pass inspection, I would have had to rent a car until I purchased another one. That could have taken two to four weeks! I probably would have bought a car before I was ready, or before finding the right car for me at the right price! Oh, and as for borrowing my brother's car, it never happened. The Cadillac failed on him, so I wasn't able to drive it back here, let alone use it!
When Nelly failed inspection last year, I went through the trouble of putting some money into him. Everyone, including my husband, thought that I was crazy, and that I should have scrapped him instead of fixing him. But today, an entire year later, I am reaping the benefit of what was thought to be a misguided investment. I can keep him a little while longer. I have time to find a really good car. Nelly is legal. I have WAY more money than I thought I was going to have in my pocket!!! What a blessing!
This seems like such a minor thing, I know. But I do know that God cares for and keeps His children, and He only wants what's best for them. Waiting on Him and being patient reaps great rewards. He protects us, keeps us, and preserves us. He is FAITHFUL.
I also understand that sometimes, it's best to hang in there and don't give up on things and people so easily. Every day of my life, I am learning a new lesson in this area.
I can hardly wait to see what He yet has in store for me; something tells me that my next car will be better, and much nicer than I had anticipated it to be!

yeah for Nelly. Wow 21 years old. Go Nelly.
Oh I'm glad your car passed, wow you've had it for a long time. At least its a stress and worry that you can avoid for now and really look for a good car to replace Nelly.
