JUST CHECKING IN

It's been awhile since I've blogged here. Easter holiday was  busy one for us.  It was a COLD day; I dressed the girls in their Sunday best and their jackets while I wore something warmer, since I had to go to work after church.  I didn't take pictures this year, but the girls were absolutely adorable.  Their grandmother, my husband's mom, did their hair.  She is in Austin with her daughter, who just had a baby a couple of weeks ago.

My sister in law had toxemia, and they had to take the baby from her.  It is three months premature, but is growing and breathing on its own, which is a good thing.  She constantly sends pictures to us on my hubby's cell phone.  The child is still being fed through a tube.  She says that the baby refuses to take milk; I feel that she is just anxious for the baby to come home.  I say don't rush it; the baby will be healthy soon enough.

Matthew and I are doing better relationship-wise.  We are learning how to communicate with each other.  It isn't always pretty, but we are making strides.  Any progress is better than none at all.  And better now than never.

I had to go to the school to help Nicolette deal with a bully.  The child called my house, on EASTER SUNDAY MORNING, mind you, to cuss me and my daughter out!  I usually don't get involved in children's mess, but since this girl felt bold enough to disrespect me, my daughter, and my household, I found it necessary to face her, and speak to her mother about what happened.  As of late, Nicolette hasn't had any problems with her since.

Job still going great; our evaluations are coming up soon.  I hope I did well, because a good evaluation means a pay raise!  I have been late only a few times, but never over ten minutes, thank God.  I try my best not to be late, but with this awful traffic, sometimes it cannot be avoided.  But I am certain that they will understand that. I feel that I am doing much better than before.  I used to be late for work ALL THE TIME, especially in New Orleans.  Now, my dependability has improved greatly since being here, and my determination to be timely has affected the kids and my husband as well.  I am very grateful for that.

My hubby's family is having a reunion in Chicago this summer, in August.  We are planning to go.  I haven't had a vacation like this in several years.  It will be great to get out and go to another city, and see new sights.  I am pricing hotel rooms now, on Priceline.com.  What a wonderful tool it is, too; you can book a flight, rooms, and even a rental car, ALL AT THE SAME TIME, and for a to-die-for price!  But I think Matthew just wants to get the rooms and rent a SUV to drive up there.  Whatever. LOL

Since it was cold on Easter Sunday, and my daughters wanted me to be home that day, I have taken this Sunday and Monday off, to coincide with my Tuesday and Wednesday, which makes four days altogether.  I began my spring cleaning this week, and plan to finish during my "holiday."

UPDATE: I just had my evaluation, and did very well.  I'm getting a raise, although I don't know how much it will be, and probably won't see it until September.  Well, at least I'm getting one! LOL

I knew you would do great with your evalution. Yeah and great job. I'm so happy you and hubby are getting a long better. It's a lot of hard work. When you come to chicago you need to look me up. Prayers to your sil's baby. I'm sure it will be ok. Sorry about the bully at school. Every once in a while a parent does need to step in.
