Hello, everyone! What's new? I hope that everyone is doing well.
Nothing much going on here, that's why I haven't posted in awhile. I went to a job fair Tuesday, and I am supposed to be receiving a call from a furniture store who is looking for a assistant manager trainee today. I am also a new Avon sales representative. I am going to an orientation meeting today; that's why I am up so early (LOL).
The Work Source again posted a dispatcher position that I have applied for SEVERAL times. This time, I am just going to fill the doggone form out, drop it off with my resume at the HR office, and leave. My husband purchased a printer/scanner/fax machine for me, so all I have to do is print the application out here at home, and/or fax completed applications and resumes, if a job site requests it. The City Of Houston is funny in that they want you to come in, sit down, and fill out the application. Well, I have done this many times. I am sure that they have my resume and application on file for this same position somewhere in that office. I have too many things to do today to sit and wait!
Today is the girls' last day of school. They will be dismissed at 12:45, and will receive their report cards today. All of my daughters won a perfect attendance medal, and Nicolette won a trophy for a jump-rope competition. She was so proud! Nicolette and Maya are supposed to begin summer school June 1, but I haven't heard anything from the school yet. I will check on that today, when I bring them to school.
I am also going to Wal-Mart either today or tomorrow to let them know that I am ready to return to work. There are several new stores that have popped up, and are looking for workers, but they are too far away! I am trying to stay close to home. I am not going to waste my time calling around; no one knows better than I that Wal-Mart store managers are just too busy to answer phone calls. I am planning to visit several locations to find out who would be willing to take me in.
I have several pictures of the kids that have to be developed. I cannot wait until all the film in my camera is used up; I SO want to share these pictures with y'all! Now that I have a scanner, I am able to do it!
Oh, I almost forgot...I have an ARTICLE posted on the W.O.R.D. web site! The title of it is "Virtue:True Beauty", and it is my first published work as an adult! The last time I had anything that I had written published was in high school (and, this blog, of course, LOL)! If you're interested in reading it, click HERE; it is listed under the "In To Me" section of the web site on the left-hand side of the page. Thanks FLAVA, the founder of W.O.R.D., and Katasha Woolard for giving me this opportunity!
I will be visiting all my J-land friends soon, to find out what's up with y'all. God Bless!
Angela graduated from kindergarten today! Isn't she CUTE?!?
School isn't over for her, though. In New Orleans, once the kindergarten students had their commencement exercises, that was it; they were home for the rest of the school year. But here, Angela's last day of school is on the 25th, just like the rest of the kids.
She came home today, and we had lunch together. She wanted to return this afternoon for the after-school program, but wound up going to sleep before the time came to bring her. Poor thing; she's lost without her sisters and friends! (LOL) But that's a good thing. My daughters have adjusted well despite all that they have been through this year. I am grateful to God, the teachers at the school, and.......I must pat myself on the back, too. I worked really hard to keep everyone moving forward, and I am seeing the fruits of all my labor. Feels good.
I've decided to wait until the end of the school year before returning to work. I have been applying for more jobs, but will definitely return to Wal-Mart at or before June 1st. If the other sites call me after that time, then if I am interested, I will just have to try and make the interviews while I am working. Besides, I will not lose any of my benefits that I already have with Wal-Mart, including my current salary status. Hey, it's a job, and I need the money. At least I have a job to return to. They were kind enough to give their workers until August to return, and I am grateful.
Thanks for all your concern, encouragement, prayers, understanding, and just lending your ears and eyes to me. You ladies and gentlemen mean so much to me, and have certainly helped my journey along, by making it less of a bumpy ride than it could have been. In writing some encouraging words to someone else recently, I was reminded of an important aspect of my own life:
"God has a plan and a purpose for your life. The struggle is not whether God's plan for us will come to pass, but whether we will allow our flesh to die so that we will accept His will for us. God's will usually means not getting what we want or feel that we deserve; waiting on Him to tell us when to move, when we want to press on; relying on Him when we want to be self-sufficient; holding on to His promises when it appears that all hell is breaking loose around us; and being content and pleased with the results of His plan and purpose for our lives, regardless of what others think, or whether His plan lines up with the plans we have for ourselves".
Reading over what I had written to someone else prompted me to listen to and apply my own good advice....LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL.......
God bless y'all, and I love you!!!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!
We're going to Mississippi for the weekend, folks, and I have a whole day and a half to get my house in order, wash clothes, and wash hair!!!
WHOOPEE.
I love you ALL! Enjoy the weekend!

Nicolette's party was a success! I had too much food and too many games for the 19 children who were actually there, but all in all, everyone ate, enjoyed themselves, and had a good time! We managed to do the "Freeze Dance" game to "Hey Ya" by OutKast (the kids loved it!), and some teachers dropped in after their meeting for cake and ice cream!
Nicolette (Ms. Moneybags) now has $58 in birthday money. What a take! LOL LOL LOL!!!!!! I plan on purchasing some jeans for her that actually fit (all of her pants are hitting her ankles now!).
This weekend, we are going to Natches, MS for Mother's Day. Hopefully, we'll be able to pass through New Orleans, too, and see what progress has been made there.
I received a letter in the mail from Texas DPS yesterday. I didn't get the job. I was disappointed; hurt even. I did cry, because I really wanted that job. Besides, I worked really hard to provide all the information that they asked me for. And for a person who lost all her major documents, it was difficult. But, as my husband said, I didn't get the job for a reason. As much as I'd hate to admit it, he's right. If I would have gotten the job, it would have been a good one, but it also would have caused a major strain on the family and our resources. It would have been a job I would have had to uproot the entire family for and move closer to in order to keep. I selfishly was willing to do all of that. Thank God for His hand and His will on my life!
Besides, I went on 5 interviews. I only heard from one site. I have yet to hear from the other four, and I still have the entire month of May to wait. If I don't hear from any of them, I will return to Wal-Mart sometime in June, when the girls are out of school. There's still hope for me yet!
Good news for the hubby, though....he's started school last week to get his computer installation and repair certifications. He's not just going for A+...he's going for Network+, MCP, and MCSA! (I don't know what all that means yet, but stay tuned, LOL!) He told me that once this group of students finishes training, they will be able to qualify for jobs that will be available for a firm that is opening soon in Houston and that will be needing computer specialists! I am praying that this will work out as planned! If it doesn't, he will still be qualified to obtain a job within that field! Go, Matthew!
Well, I have to go to bed now, folks. Gotta get up early for church. God bless you all, and enjoy the rest of your weekend! I will try and get around to visiting everyone hopefully before Tuesday; I really need to catch up! Bye, y'all!

I have known about this field trip for a month and a half. The buses were ordered, monies were paid, and the teachers, the chaperones, Maya's class, along with two other classes, were rarin' to go.
On the day of the field trip, the principal CANCELS it, claiming that she didn't see the paperwork she needed to approve the trip.
That would have washed, if SHE hadn't postponed the first actual day of the trip, which was April 26th.
If you were going to cancel it, then that day should have been the day. Not THE DAY OF THE TRIP!!!!
Now, there are three classrooms full of kids who are absolutely CRUSHED, and three teachers who were EXTREMELY ANGRY this morning!!!!
Why punish those kids like that? It's not fair to them!!!
Now, I am not about to sit here and behave like I am some expert on the ins and outs of the school system, but I called HISD (Houston Independent School District), and expressed my concerns with the parent manager. She says that she is going to look into this, and call me back today. I mean, I missed out on going with my baby daughter's class, trying to straighten this mess out!!! And, I have yet to receive my money back that I paid for myself, and Maya to go!!!! I will keep y'all posted. I notice that Houston doesn't encourage much parental involvement, but I have always been involved with my kids. This school system will see and hear of me often. They can count on THAT!
Thank y'all for all the comments, encouraging e-mails, Nicole's beautiful comment about me in her journal, and e-cards. Y'all mean so much to me. God Bless You ALL!
