LOCTICIANS AND STIMULUS CHECKS

I'm tired because I am working morning shift for one week due to training.  I am SO not a morning person!

I finally found a loctician here in Houston.  A loctician is a beautician who specializes in loc's and natural hair styling.  My hair is beautiful, clean, neat, and flowing!  Best of all, she and I have a lot in common, and she has taken me on as one of her regular customers.  One of my church members strongly recommended me to her.  This loctician has such a large clientele, that she wasn't able to accept any new clients for awhile.  I was lucky to be one of the new clients she "hired" this year after "firing" some difficult ones.  Believe me, I don't plan on giving her any trouble!

I finally received my letter in the mail telling me that my stimulus check should be here soon.  It's about time; I thought I'd never get it!  I wish our government would stop treating us like we're a bunch of idiots!  Some folks received 2 stimulus checks, and many received checks that weren't even supposed to get them.  Then they had the audacity to announce that those people shouldn't cash those checks, because the government will eventually catch up with them.  The folks who were supposed to receive checks didn't get them when the government said that they were going to; how many years will it take for them to catch up with the folks who weren't supposed to get them?!? LOL  Anyhoo, I already have a specific plan for the money; I'll keep you posted.

The kids are really enjoying their new home.  It's safe, clean, spacious and quiet.  We are planning the first BBQ in our new home for the 4th of July, and the kids can't wait!  They will be playing in their back yard while their dad and I are cooking.  They also like the fact that there is PLENTY for families to do out here.....we live down the street from a huge shopping mall that regularly hosts family events, and there are several restaurants, stores, and novelty shops that are only minutes away.  Where we lived before, we had to travel so far out in order to do the simplest things, like making groceries.

Speaking of their dad...........I must say how happy I am with Matthew.  Since he's been working for the city, he has really been diligent in caring for us, especially me.  It's as if he is "catching up for lost time," doing things that he's wanted to do for us all along, but never had enough money to.  He's walking around with his chest puffed out, strutting like a peacock,  and I can't help but giggle under my breath at him sometimes (don't worry about that, babe, I've got it.....LOL), but I also couldn't be more proud.  He's always been a great husband and father, despite the fact that for most of the time that we've been together, I've always managed to make more money than he did.  I know now that that's only because there weren't many opportunities available in New Orleans for a computer technician.  Hurricane Katrina was devastating, but a lot of good came out of this disaster, too.  I am just thankful that no matter what everyone else was doing, I stood my ground, and refused to compromise with what I believe in.  I never gave up on my husband or my family, no matter how hard it got, and I believe that I am reaping the rewards of that steadfastness now.  I almost lost my family before because I wasn't willing to yield to all that being a wife and mother entails.  Now I know that being a wife and mother is one of the greatest gifts that can ever be bestowed on a woman.  And I am grateful that God bestowed those gifts on me.  I am blessed.

FOOOOOL-ISH-NESS

Yesterday, 2 co-workers, an older lady and a much younger one, had gotten into an argument about what was on the TV here in the call center.

The younger one asked permission from the supervisor to change the channel to the Lakers/Celtics game, which was, of course, the last game of the series, and the season.  The older lady wasn't in the center, or at her desk, which happens to be where the TV is, when the change happened.

Once the older lady returned to her seat, she promptly changed the channel to one that SHE wanted to watch.

The younger lady then promptly corrected the older lady, in "put this little girl in her place" language.  Naturally, the older lady, who has been here longer (to those of you who have been reading this journal for awhile, this is the lady that has been here for 15 years, whom I've had to re-train) didn't like being addressed as a child from this little upstart.   So she sends an e-mail to the supervisor, making all kinds of accusations about the younger co-worker threatening her and all of this jazz.  (There were no threats made to her.  The younger co-worker said what she had to say, and that was it, but we all know how older people behave when they feel that their "space" has been invaded.  The younger lady's correction was perceived as a threat).

Today, they are both in a disciplinary hearing at our main operations office.  They have been gone now for almost three hours.

Why am I angry?  Because even though I wasn't involved in this mess in no way, shape, or form, since I was in the vicinity of the altercation, I had to give an oral statement to the supervisor about what I heard, then turn around and give a WRITTEN statement!!!!

I HATE writing e-mails on folks!  I REALLY, REALLY didn't want to do it; then my super had the audacity to come over to my desk and "get" the hard copy from me!!!  I wasn't involved in this FOOOOO-LISH-NESS, so why was I dragged in the middle of it?

You know, I am only 33 years old, and I am sick and tired of grown people who act like children!  Now a major disciplinary hearing is taking place, all because of a damn TV!!!!  Which, I might add, is only supposed to stay tuned in to CNN!  The supervisors have been nice enough lately to let us watch other channels (one supervisor team even organized "movie weekends" for us, with popcorn and everything!), and all of that can be taken away because two dolts couldn't work this out!!!  This older co-worker can be my mother, for God's sake!  Why won't some people GROW UP?!?

P.S.  The older one just walked in.  I haven't seen the younger one yet................

MY NEW HOME

Cute, isn't it?

We are finally settling in to the subdivision and so far, we love EVERYTHING about our new home.  It has just the right amount of space.  It's a far cry from where we were staying! The hubby did GOOD! What a blessing!
